Condensation season… are you prepared?

Condensation season is typically October to April (give or take a few weeks) but that’s not to say your property can’t suffer from condensation outwith these times.

Condensation occurs when the amount of water vapour exceeds the amount of water the air is able to hold at that given time. This is known as 100% relative humidity. There is a few factors that affect the relative humidity such as air temperate, surface temperature, ventilation. Contributors to condensation are showering, cooking, washing and drying clothes.. basically living!

We can help ourselves control condensation using a few methods such as..

  • Opening windows front and back to allow airflow through the property upon waking up.

  • Using extractor fans and vents

  • Using lids when cooking

  • Venting tumble dryers

  • Drying washing outdoors if possible (if indoors, a dry buddy can be used)

  • Using dehumidifiers

  • Keeping the property adequately heated

We know not all of this is possible but doing what you can, can have great benefits. If you need any further assistance in pro actively dealing with condensation then please get in touch.

* If you are unsure of any of the above please ask us for further info
